If you’ve climbed Croagh Patrick in County Mayo, then you’ll know why this happy hiker is jumping for joy at having reached the summit. The final ascent is steep and difficult, but the view of Clew Bay is absolutely spectacular.




















Top Tips for a happy hike with kids: Take A LOT of snacks and treats. Like double what you think you need. Go with friends – it really helped the children to be chatting all the way.
Be prepared to take all day. The average climb is 3 and a half hours. It took us more than 7! There is a half way point on the saddleback where you could possibly split up and leave behind a group that were too tired to make it to the top!
